I have tried to bring traditional art digitally – Md Saidul Islam
Bangladeshi painter and hobbyist digital artist Md Saidul Islam. Some invaluable digital portraits of the father of the Bengali nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his daughter Shekha Hasina has been created by his hands. Which is housed in the Devian Art Gallery.
There are 75 paintings of Bangabandhu in this gallery. In the title of his paintings, he has mentioned Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as ‘The Liberator’, ‘Architect of Independent Bangladesh’, ‘The Man Behind The Nation’, ‘The Legend of Bangladesh’, ‘Whose greatest strength was the love for his people’, ‘The Founder of Independent Bangladesh’, ‘The poet of politics’, ‘The greatest Bengali of all time’, ‘The greatest gift to humanity’, ‘Whose love and affection knew no bounds’, ‘A symbol of hope and a sign of freedom’, ‘A man of vitality and vehemence’, ‘A preacher of socialism and democracy’, and ‘The saviour of his fellow countryman’.
He also gave a brief description of the paintings. Written below the paintings of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman “politician and statesman Sheikh Mujib is the founder of Bangladesh. He formed the political party Awami League. He was the first President of Bangladesh. He later served as Prime Minister. Although his real name was Sheikh Mujib, he was honourably given the title of Bangabandhu. In Bangladesh, he is known as the father of the nation.”
The whole of Bangabandhu’s speech on 7th March has been highlighted in the description of some paintings which are based on the historic 7th match speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Painter Md Saidul Islam said, “before 2010 if someone did a search on Google, it was very difficult to find good resolution pictures of Bangabandhu, there were only some black and white pictures, and there was a lot of propaganda against him. I was surprised then. That’s when I had decided to change the scenario.”
All his works are made with Photoshop and Illustrator. But they look like watercolour or traditional arts. “I have tried to bring traditional art digitally,” he said.
